Abbey of Anna of Kyiv, Senlis
An abbey founded by Anna of Kyiv, Queen of France, in 1060.
Anna Yaroslavna, daughter of Yaroslav the Wise and Queen of France, founded the abbey of Saint Vincent in Senlis around 1060 — in thanksgiving for the birth of her son, the future King Philip I. A monument to Anna stands before the building inscribed "Anna of Kyiv, Queen of France" — the Ukrainian community fought a separate battle for that wording. Sources give different founding years: eglisesdeloise says 1060, while Lokalna Istoriia and senlis3d say 1065, when the church was consecrated; the building was finished in 1069.
The abbey buildings now house a lycée — viewed from outside.
