The city arsenal of 1574–1575 by the defensive wall — now the Arsenal Museum.

A city arsenal already stood here in 1430; in 1554 it was dismantled, and in 1555–1556 a larger one was built, which the fire of 1571 almost completely destroyed. The present building was erected in 1574–1575 with the participation of the Lviv builders Pavlo, Hanush and Sebastian; on its eastern side it adjoined the High Defensive Wall between two towers. Burnt down in 1704, during the Great Northern War, the arsenal was rebuilt within two years. In the 18th century the building lost its defensive role and served as an unofficial prison — in 1768–1770 haidamaks, participants in the Koliivshchyna, were held here; from 1800 it was a military warehouse. Restoration began in 1973; in 1980 a fragment of the Shoemakers' Tower with part of the defensive wall was recreated, and on 18 May 1981 the Arsenal Museum opened. Since 15 April 2025 it has hosted the exhibition “Defence Industry of Lviv”: over 200 items — edged weapons and firearms of the 16th–18th centuries, armour, cannons.

5 Pidvalna Street. The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 18:00, ticket office until 17:30; full ticket 100 UAH, concession 50 UAH (Lviv Historical Museum website, after 15.04.2025). The official website does not state a day off, while the city tourist portal names Wednesday as the day off (lviv.travel, undated) — check before your visit.
