Baikove Cemetery, Kyiv
Kyiv's main necropolis since 1833 — a pantheon of Ukrainian culture and statehood.
Laid out in 1833 on Baikova Hill, the cemetery became the resting place of the people who made Ukrainian culture: Lesya Ukrainka, Mykola Lysenko, Mykhailo Hrushevsky, Borys Hrinchenko, Maria Zankovetska, Vasyl Stus and Viacheslav Chornovil are buried here. The old sections are an open-air museum of memorial sculpture, from classicism to modernism.
A working necropolis — let the place set the tone. The pin leads to the old section near Lesya Ukrainka's grave.
