The madrasa of Meñli I Giray with a chain over the entrance, and the 1501 mausoleum of his father Hacı Giray.

The educational complex in Salaçıq was founded under Khan Meñli I Giray more than five hundred years ago (Krym.Realii, 2020). A chain hangs over the entrance: according to legend, the khan ordered it hung so that everyone who entered would bow his head. In 1501 Meñli I Giray built a mausoleum next to it for his father Hacı Giray, and in 1515 Meñli himself was buried there. In Soviet times the building fell into decay and for a while served as a psychiatric hospital; after 1991 it was restored for almost three million dollars from Turkey (Krym.Realii). On 17 May 2019 the occupation “government of Crimea” handed the complex over for free use to the Moscow-controlled Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea and Sevastopol (Krym.Realii, 2019).

Impossible to reach while the occupation lasts.
