St Barbara's Church, Vienna
A Greek Catholic church in central Vienna, Ukrainian since 1784.
The Barbareum — a former seminary for the empire's Greek Catholics — came with the church Joseph II handed to the Ukrainian community in 1784. Since then St Barbara's has been the spiritual home of Vienna's Ukrainians: figures from Markiian Shashkevych to the emigres of the 20th century served and studied here. The community has been active for over two centuries without a break.
A working church in the quarter behind Stephansdom. Liturgy times on the door.
