A classicist town hall of 1803 with tower and clock amid the Rynok.

The first wooden town hall on the Berezhany market square appeared in the first half of the 17th century and burned more than once. The present masonry building in the early classicist style was erected with the financial support of the owner of the Berezhany estate, Izabela Lubomirska; the sources give different dates: according to zabytki.in.ua and RISU, 1803; according to Ukrinform, 1803–1811; according to ZAXID, 1811. The clock on the two-tier tower in the centre of the south facade started working in 1811 (according to RISU, the tower was also completed at that time). The two-storey town hall has an inner courtyard; the ground floor once held shops, and the upper floor a gymnasium where Markiian Shashkevych and Bohdan Lepky studied. Today it houses four museums, among them the Bohdan Lepky Museum and a local history museum with the classrooms of the former gymnasium. In 2021 the town hall was included in the “Great Restoration” programme: the foundations were waterproofed and the roof and clock tower were re-covered; according to “Nashi Hroshi”, additional work is to be completed by the end of 2028.

Restoration of the town hall is under way: additional work is due to be completed by the end of 2028 (“Nashi Hroshi”, 09.01.2026). Check the museums' hours on site.
