Ivan Mykolaichuk Museum-Homestead, Chortoryia
The recreated family home of the actor and director Ivan Mykolaichuk, with his belongings and family photos.
The Ivan Mykolaichuk Museum-Homestead in Chortoryia opened in November 1991. The family home, built in 1910, was pulled down in 1986 by the actor's brother Yurii. In 1990 representatives of the Chernivtsi museum and officials proposed rebuilding an authentic house on this spot and creating a museum. The Mykolaichuk family had 12 children, ten of whom grew up on this homestead. Among the exhibits are the suitcase Ivan took with him when he went to study in Chernivtsi, and family photographs. Since 2013 the museum has been looked after by the actor's nephew Mykhailo Hrytsiuk.
