The tract where 524 people shot by the NKVD were exhumed in 1989 — the reburial drew half a million people.

After the Red Army occupied Stanislav in September 1939 the NKVD carried out mass arrests of priests, cooperative workers and teachers; in the spring and summer of 1941, before the retreat, prisoners were shot and buried in the Demianiv Laz tract near the village of Pasichna. Excavations by the Memorial society under Zinovii Duma in September–October 1989 uncovered the remains of 524 people — 359 men, 159 women, six undetermined; about 150 skulls belonged to girls aged 17–18, and the bones bore traces of torture. The reburial on 29 October 1989 drew over half a million people; 22 people were identified from documents, and about 400 more names were established from SBU archives. In 1998 a church-chapel was built at the burial site, and on 11 October 2009 an underground museum of the 1939–1941 repressions in Prykarpattia opened.

The chapel and grounds are open, with weekly services in the chapel; check the museum's hours. A memorial service is held every year in late May. On 13.09.2026 russia attacked Ivano-Frankivsk with drones: a residential building and an industrial facility were damaged, and one person was injured (Suspilne Ivano-Frankivsk, 13.09.2026).
