St Elisabeth Fortress, Kropyvnytskyi
An earthen star fort of 1754 — the ramparts survive to this day.
The fortress was founded in 1754 to engineer Menzelius's design — earthen, in the shape of a star polygon with sharp bastions, over six hectares. The ramparts have lived to our day together with part of the 18th-century barracks. The fortress rose on the lands of the Zaporozhian liberties — from it began the city now called Kropyvnytskyi.
The ramparts are open; look for Ushakova street.
