Museum of the Kharkiv literary renaissance of the 1920s in the former Shtorkh mansion; reopened in April 2026 after a russian strike in 2025.

The Literary Museum occupies a two-storey house at 6 Bahaliia Street, built to his own design in the late 19th century by Heorhii Shtorkh, a teacher at the School of Drawing and Painting and city architect (nakypilo.ua; Ukrinform dates the mansion to the early 20th century); according to Suspilne, the mansion later became a closed Party hotel. The museum was founded in 1988 by activists with anti-Soviet sentiments — the Ministry of Culture register stresses that it “was never an instrument of propaganda”. The core of the collection is the legacy of the Kharkiv literary renaissance of the 1920s: the archive of Ivan Dniprovsky with correspondence and materials on Mykola Khvylovy, Mykhail Semenko and Mykola Kulish, which the writer's wife kept in a suitcase during the bombing of Kharkiv in the Second World War (Suspilne). The main holdings number over 30,000 items, the auxiliary research collection about 17,000: signed books, manuscripts, letters and personal belongings of writers of the 1920s–30s, the Sixtiers and the resistance movement of the 1960s–80s (Ministry of Culture register). The museum runs a writers' residency in flat 40 of the Slovo Building (Suspilne). On the night of 1 March 2025 russian shelling damaged the building; after a year of repairs the museum reopened on 25 April 2026 with the exhibition “Kharkiv Aeneid. Home Archive” of Rafael Volynsky's illustrations to Kotliarevsky (Ukrinform) and a public reading room (lyuk.media, shotam.info).
