The Kosach family estate near Kovel: twenty-five years of Lesia Ukrainka's life.

The Kosach family settled in Kolodiazhne in May 1882 and left the village in February 1907. For Lesia Ukrainka that meant twenty-five years of childhood and youth — and the home where she wrote down the songs and rituals of Volyn together with her friend Varvara Dmytruk. Her “white” cottage was built on the estate in 1890; work on the “grey” one, her father's, began in 1896. The forests of Volyn that start just beyond the village later echoed through “The Forest Song”. The literary memorial museum opened on 10 July 1949.

53 Lesi Ukrainky Street; open Wednesday to Sunday 09:00–17:00, closed Monday and Tuesday, ticket 60 UAH, concessions 40 UAH (Volyn Regional Museum website, as of 01.10.2026). The museum is open and holds events: on 25.02.2026 a round table for Lesia Ukrainka's 155th anniversary was scheduled here (Kovel.Raion, 23.02.2026).
