St Nicholas Church, Kolodne
A wooden church of 1470 — one of the oldest in Ukraine, 22 years older than the discovery of America.
The log frame of massive oak logs 12 m long stands on a dry-laid stone foundation; the church is dated to 1470. In the 17th century the log frames and the tower were raised, and the mid-17th-century iconostasis was renewed in 1737 — the royal doors still bear the signature "Iliia the painter of Khust". The Baroque wall paintings were finished in August 1789 by Antonius Vali of Wald; fragments survive. Restoration was carried out in 1969–1971, and in 2007–2008 the roof was replaced with a grant from the US Embassy. The iconostasis is kept in the Bokshai Transcarpathian Art Museum.
On a hill in the centre of the village; the doors are open, but there is a gate at the entrance (karpaty.rocks, updated 17.05.2025). Before the trip, check access with the local community.
