Volodymyr Korolenko Museum, Zhytomyr
The house where Volodymyr Korolenko was born in 1853; a museum since 1973.
Volodymyr Korolenko was born in this house in 1853 and lived here until 1866. In 1973, for the writer's 120th anniversary, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the house and a museum opened as a department of the regional museum. The exhibition in seven halls follows the chronology of his life and work; among the exhibits are lifetime editions and translations. In 2025 the exhibition was updated with an emphasis on the writer's Cossack origins. Every year on 27 July flowers are laid at the Korolenko monument by School No. 6.

Zhytomyr is under attack: on 05.09.2026 a jet-powered drone hit a food-processing plant, and on the night of 30.09.2026 the Zhytomyr community also came under attack (Suspilne Zhytomyr, 05.09.2026 and 30.09.2026). During an alert — straight to a shelter.
