The cradle of Ukrainian professional theatre: here in 1882 Kropyvnytskyi's troupe staged Natalka Poltavka.

The Winter Theatre building was erected in 1867 at his own expense by the engineer and colonel Heorhii Trambytskyi. In 1882 in Yelysavethrad Marko Kropyvnytskyi founded the first Ukrainian professional troupe, and its first production was Kotliarevsky's Natalka Poltavka — that date is regarded as the birthday of Ukrainian professional theatre. The building was rebuilt in 1911, 1927, 1956–1958, 1975–1976 and 2011–2012; since 2006 it has been the Kropyvnytskyi Academic Regional Music and Drama Theatre. The theatre opened its 144th season on 28 August 2026 with the premiere of Mrożek's Emigrants. On 27 October 1882 Maria Zankovetska made her debut here — in the role of Natalka.

4 Teatralna Street. Performances by the season's playbill, tickets at the box office and online. Kropyvnytskyi is attacked by drones — alerts interrupt performances.
