Holy Trinity Church, Liuboml

openas of 2026-10-021412Volyn

A Gothic church of 1412 — the oldest Catholic church in Volhynia, a working Roman Catholic church.

The masonry Gothic Church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1412 to replace a wooden church of 1409; according to legend, its founder was King Władysław II Jagiełło. The western extension is dated to 1731 and the brick bell tower to 1764. After 1945 the church was used as a salt warehouse, and in 1992 it was returned to the Roman Catholic community. In 2022 archaeologists examined the foundations of the church and the bell tower; the crypts turned out to be flooded, so their full investigation was postponed. In February 2025 it was reported that Poland's Ministry of Culture and National Heritage had allocated a grant for the second stage of repair and restoration work.

16 Lesi Ukrainky Street, in the northern part of the town (travels.in.ua, updated 11.04.2025). A working church that is gradually being restored (bug.org.ua, 05.08.2026); there is no schedule of services in dated sources. In September 2026 the special regime of the 1-km border zone applied to certain settlements of the Samary, Ratne and Shatsk communities — Liuboml is not on the list (rayon.in.ua, 21.09.2026; volyninfa.com.ua, 23.09.2026).
