Holy Trinity Cathedral, Lutsk
A former 18th-century Bernardine church, an Orthodox cathedral since 1880, now a cathedral church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The cathedral began as the church of the Bernardine monastery in the new part of Lutsk. The masonry church was built to a design by Pawel Gizycki; the eparchy dates it to 1752–1755, other sources to 1737–1755. The last Catholic service was held in 1864, and in 1876–1879 the church was rebuilt as an Orthodox cathedral. It was consecrated to the Holy Trinity on 24 September 1880. In 1941–1944 it was the cathedral church of Metropolitan Polikarp (Sikorsky) of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. On 12 August 1992 the cathedral was handed over to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate; today it is a cathedral church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
