A museum of 1920 at 20 Heorhiivska Street: the building burned during the 2022 siege, the surviving holdings were taken away.

The museum was founded on 6 February 1920 (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine); it was housed at 20 Heorhiivska Street, in a former zemstvo craft shelter for invalids of the First World War opened in 1916 (zabytki.in.ua). In 1926–1927 the museum’s specialists helped create three protected areas of the Azov region, among them Kamiani Mohyly (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine; Wikipedia). At the start of 2022 the holdings numbered more than 60,000 items (Suspilne). During the siege the building was hit, and on 16 April 2022 it caught fire (CISS); according to a museum employee, about 50,000 items were destroyed (Texty). The surviving part, including works by Aivazovsky and Kuindzhi, was taken away by the occupiers (Suspilne). The museum works in exile and is rebuilding the record of its collection online (Vilne Radio).

Mariupol has been occupied since 2022 — no access. The museum’s branch is the Kuindzhi Art Museum.
