A palace begun in 1881 for Prince Semen Vorontsov and completed for Alexander III; the Massandra Accords were signed here in 1993.

Construction of the palace in Massandra began in 1881, funded by Prince Semen Vorontsov, to a design by the French architect Étienne Bouchard; after the owner’s death in 1882 the work stopped (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine). In 1889 the estate was bought by Alexander III, and in 1892–1902 the palace was completed with the participation of the architect Maximilian Messmacher (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine). Members of the imperial family often came here but never stayed overnight (Krym.Realii). In 1929–1941 the palace housed a tuberculosis sanatorium, and from 1948 it was a state dacha (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine). The museum opened in 1992, and in 1993 the Massandra Accords were signed here (Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine; Krym.Realii). In January 2023 Krym.Realii reported cracks in the ceiling, flaking paintings and a “restoration” announced without Ukraine’s consent.

Crimea has been occupied since 2014 — no access.
