Mezhyhiria, Novi Petrivtsi
The residence the people took back in 2014. Now a park.
From the 12th century the Mezhyhiria Transfiguration monastery stood here, demolished under Soviet rule; in 1935 a government residence was laid out on the site. After Yanukovych fled in 2014, Mezhyhiria was opened to everyone, and in 2023 it officially became a park-landmark of one hundred thirty-seven hectares. A point about the price of unchecked power — and about how it becomes a public park.
One hundred thirty-seven hectares — the walk will be long. Guided tours have been suspended since 3 September 2026; the park is open for walks.
