Molochansk (Halbstadt)
The capital of the Molochna Mennonite colonies. Under occupation.
Halbstadt was the centre of the south's Mennonite settlements — communities of Dutch-German origin that from the late 18th century turned the steppe into one of the empire's wealthiest farming lands. Schools, factories and prayer houses of the trademark brick remain of the colonies. The town has been occupied since 2022.
