Museum of Shipbuilding and the Fleet, Mykolaiv
Ukraine's only shipbuilding museum — in the admiralty building of 1793.
The museum opened on 30 July 1978 in the building of the former chancellery of the chief commander of the Black Sea Fleet, built in 1793 in the classical style. The exhibition holds more than 3,000 items and the reserves more than 16,000: ship models, navigation instruments, drawings, maps and photographs of the shipyards. Before the war the museum received more than 50 thousand visitors a year. In August 2024 two halls were rebuilt for a project on Cossack shipbuilding of the 15th–18th centuries — the traditions from which the Mykolaiv fleet grew.
