Oleksandriia Arboretum, Bila Tserkva
A park of 1793 — over two hundred hectares of the Branicki estate.
The park was founded in 1793 by crown hetman Franciszek Ksawery Branicki and named after his wife Aleksandra. Over two hundred hectares, twenty-five ponds, twenty kilometres of alleys and some two and a half thousand plant species; at its heart the "Mur" garden of three and a half hectares. In 1831–1838 Countess Branicka's estate hospital in Bila Tserkva was run by Dominique De la Flise — a French physician taken prisoner in 1812; during the cholera he treated 247 patients here, and as physician to the state estates he vaccinated ten thousand peasant children against smallpox in seven years.
Entry is paid; allow half a day for the full circuit.
