St Basil's Church, Ovruch
St Basil's church of 1190 — an old Rus temple revived by Shchusev.
The stone church was built around 1190 at the expense of prince Riuryk Rostyslavych; master builder Petro Mylonih directed the work. By tradition, a wooden church was first raised here by prince Volodymyr in honour of prince Oleh. Ruined by raids and time, the church was revived in 1907–1909 by architect Oleksii Shchusev; a convent grew beside it.
A working monastery church: dress and quiet by the convent's custom.
