A church on the foundations of a cathedral of 1089; the bell tower was restored from a drawing by Shevchenko.

The masonry church stands on the foundations of a cathedral of 1089 — the burial vault of the princes of Pereiaslav, destroyed by the Mongols; over part of those foundations an underground Museum of Old Rus Architecture opened in 1982. The bell tower, destroyed in the Second World War, was restored in 1951–1953 from a drawing by Taras Shevchenko of 1845: it was that drawing which became the document of the authentic appearance. Sources differ on the date of the church itself — ukrainaincognita.com traces it to 1646, while the “Pereiaslav” reserve gives 1750.

On 11 May 2026, by court decision, the monument was freed from the UOC (MP) and handed over to the Pereiaslav reserve, and on 13 July it opened for tours (Informator Pereiaslav, 11.05.2026 and 14.07.2026). 34 Mykhaila Sikorskoho Street; open Mon–Fri 9:00–17:00, closed at weekends (Informator Pereiaslav, 06.07.2026). Inside are the church, the Museum of the Architecture of Old Rus Pereiaslav and a photo exhibition in the refectory.
