Peresopnytsia
A princely town where the First Book — the Peresopnytsia Gospel — was born.
Peresopnytsia was the centre of an appanage principality in the 11th–13th centuries, and in the mid-16th the Gospel was translated in the local monastery into the living Ukrainian tongue — the First Book on which presidents of Ukraine now take their oath. The cultural-archaeological centre of 2011 keeps the First Book museum, over a thousand artefacts and a reconstruction of the princely town.
A village just outside Rivne — a handy first trip out of the city.
