The zemstvo house of 1903–1908 — a manifesto of Ukrainian modern style.

The building of the Poltava Provincial Zemstvo was built in 1903–1908 to the design of Vasyl Krychevsky, who won the competition; according to the ESU, the original design was by O. Shyrshov, and Krychevsky reworked it in the Ukrainian style. The facade was decorated with ceramics from Opishnia and Myrhorod and with the coats of arms of the province's county towns, and the paintings of the vestibule and central hall were done by Serhii Vasylkivskyi and Mykola Samokysh. The building was consecrated on 14 October 1908; according to zabytki.in.ua, its Ukrainian style displeased Nicholas II. It is considered the first building of Ukrainian architectural modernism. Since 1920 it has housed a museum founded in 1891; in September 1943 German troops set the building on fire, and reconstruction lasted until 1964. The museum was named after Krychevsky in 2013. The restoration begun in September 2021 was suspended because of the full-scale war: no funds were allocated for it in the regional budget for 2026.

2 Konstytutsii Street. The museum has been closed to visitors since October 2021 — the restoration is on hold (2026); in the warm season events are sometimes held in the inner courtyard, and the façade can be seen from the street.
