Pysanyi Kamin, Bukovets
A rock ridge at 1221 m with petroglyphs and the 1899 autographs of Kobylianska and Stefanyk.
The ridge, 98 m long, rises 20–30 m; on its platforms are more than 30 symbolic drawings: equal-armed crosses, circles, rhombuses, schematic human figures and nine round hollows with tool marks. Researchers assign the oldest signs to the times of Rus and suppose a pre-Christian sanctuary; there is no precise dating. It is said that Pysanyi Kamin is the grave of the king of the giants. In 1899 Olha Kobylianska and Vasyl Stefanyk left their autographs here; Franko wrote that the rock "restored my strength and health". A geological natural monument of local significance; in 2026 the Verkhovyna community won a grant for a tourist trail to the rock.
Ascent from the Bukovets Pass or from Verkhnii Yaseniv, 3–4 hours up. Water and footwear for rocks are essential.
