Rylsky Family Museum-Estate, Romanivka

openas of 2026-10-021844Polissia

The Rylsky family estate, founded in 1844; today a literary and memorial museum, a department of the regional museum.

In 1844 Romanivka was bought by Teodor Rylsky, marshal of the Skvyra nobility, who founded the family estate here and built the manor house. Under Soviet rule the manor house housed a school where Maksym Rylsky taught — according to various sources, in 1918–1919 or 1921–1923. A museum room was created at the school in 1965, and the museum opened in 1990 (according to other sources, in 1991). The exhibition in four halls contains memorial objects, books, photographs, documents and the interior of a classroom. The museum is a department of the Zhytomyr Regional Museum of Local History; in 2026 the 49th Romanivka Spring festival was held here.
