openas of 2026-10-012010World · Ukrainian tracesDenmark

The only Shevchenko bust in Scandinavia, in Østre Anlæg park.

The bronze bust, 60 cm high on a granite pedestal of 175 cm, was unveiled on 24 September 2010 in Østre Anlæg park in central Copenhagen. Its author is Serhii Bohuslavsky, a Ukrainian sculptor living in Denmark; according to Denmark's foreign ministry, he visited Kaniv before starting work and deliberately wrote the neighbouring park pond into the design as a hint of the Dnipro. The installation was initiated by the Danish-Ukrainian Society led by Ivan Nester. The pedestal carries a Danish inscription, "Taras Shevchenko 1814–1861 Ukraines nationaldigter" — "Ukraine's national poet".

Østre Anlæg park between Stockholmsgade and Oslo Plads; according to the Danish-Ukrainian Society, near the entrance from Hjalmar Brantings Plads. A city park, free access.
