A monument to the poet in a square of the Old Town, unveiled on 3 September 2011.

The monument to Taras Shevchenko was unveiled on 3 September 2011 in the square at the junction of Arklių, Visų Šventųjų and Bazilijonų streets in the Old Town of Vilnius. Its author is the Lithuanian sculptor Vitalijus Andrijanov; the poet is shown as a young man. The idea belonged to the Ukrainian community of Lithuania and was discussed for about ten years, while Ukraine paid for the making. The place was not chosen by chance: Shevchenko lived in Vilnius from the autumn of 1829 to February 1831 as the serf houseboy of Pavlo Engelhardt and learned drawing in the circle of the Vilnius University professor Jonas Rustemas.

The square between Arklių, Visų Šventųjų and Bazilijonų streets, Vilnius; open space, free access.
