Shypit is a five-tiered waterfall 14 m high on the northern slopes of the Borzhava polonyna, at the foot of Mount Hymba (1491 m). It formed at an outcrop of resistant Palaeogene sandstones and has the status of a hydrological natural monument. The water flows down from the slopes of Velykyi Verkh (1598 m) and feeds the Pylypets river. The waterfall lies 6 km from the village of Pylypets and 10 km from Volovets railway station. It is fullest in spring during the snowmelt, and in winter the river never freezes completely. Since July 1993 the informal “Shypit” festival, timed to Ivan Kupala, has gathered by the waterfall every year.
