One of the region's largest castles by area — now a ruin.

A wooden castle existed in Stare Selo in 1448–1498, until it was burned by the Tatars. According to karpaty.info, the first stone castle was built by the Ostrozky princes in 1584–1589, probably to a design by Ambroży Przychylny. In 1642 Prince Władysław Dominik Zasławski enlarged the stronghold to an area of about 2 ha; castles.com.ua gives two dates for its masonry construction — 1642 and 1654. Pentagonal in plan, the castle had six towers up to 16 m high, of which three survive; castles.com.ua and karpaty.info give the height of the walls as 8 m, “Espreso.Zakhid” as 14–16 m. In 1648 it was destroyed by Bohdan Khmelnytsky's Cossacks; the castle withstood the siege of 1672. From 1809, under the Potockis, a brewery, a distillery and warehouses operated here. In 2010 the monument was handed over to a private company in a concession for 49 years, but in 2023, following a lawsuit by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a court terminated the contract and returned the castle, in a dangerous condition, to the state.

Hazardous walls. Keep to the outer perimeter.
