Talianky Settlement
The largest known settlement of the Trypillia culture — and the empty field above it.
The field above the village of Talianky is the largest known settlement of the Trypillia culture. Estimates of its area differ: 350 ha according to the Trypillia expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences, and 450 ha according to the reserve; the population is estimated at 6,000–25,000. The houses stood in concentric circles, as in the other giant settlements. The Institute of Archaeology has been excavating here since 1981 — Volodymyr Kruts began the work; the geomagnetic plan was made in 2011–2012 together with German colleagues. Nothing is left above ground: everything found is shown in the museum at Lehedzyne, three kilometres away.
This is a field, not a museum: without a guided visit from Lehedzyne there is nothing to look at.
