Greek Catholic Parish, Riga
The Ukrainian parish prays in a chapel of the church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Old Riga.
The Riga Greek Catholic parish of the Transfiguration of the Lord has no church of its own and prays in a side chapel of the church of Our Lady of Sorrows at Pils iela 5 in Old Riga. According to the official portal of the Catholic Church in Latvia, the Sunday Liturgy is served in Ukrainian. The church itself was built in 1784–1785 on the site of an oratory of 1765; it was consecrated on 28 July 1785 by auxiliary bishop Jānis Benislavskis. In 1858–1860 the church was rebuilt to a design by the architect Johann Felsko, and in 1895–1896 a chapel in the Italian Renaissance style was added.
