A Kh-101 missile at half past four in the morning destroyed an entrance section of a nine-storey block — 23 dead.

On 28 April 2023 at about 4:30, during a massive attack, a russian Kh-101 cruise missile hit a nine-storey residential building in Uman; the first entrance section was destroyed — 27 of 46 flats, home to about 109 people. 23 people died; the number of children among them differs by source — four according to the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration as of that evening, six by later reports; 18 were wounded. Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, called the strike genocide of the Ukrainian people. By the destroyed building stands a memorial cube with the photographs and names of the dead, where residents bring flowers and toys; the names are collected on the Memorial remembrance platform.

Open ground by a residential building that is still being rebuilt: as of May 2026 it was 90 % complete, and a new contractor is continuing the works (18000.com.ua, 21.05.2026), so take care near the construction site. Uman is in the rear, but Cherkasy region is periodically attacked by drones (Uman24, 24.09.2026).
