Plaque to the UNR Mission, Copenhagen
A plaque on the building where the diplomatic mission of the UNR worked in 1919.
In 1919 a diplomatic mission of the Ukrainian People's Republic opened in Copenhagen — one of the missions with which the UNR government tried to secure recognition of the state in Scandinavia. Its first head was Dmytro Levytsky. According to the Ukrainian-language Danish outlet SLOVO.DK, the mission was housed at Upsalagade 24 and worked in 1919–1920; the plaque itself gives 1919–1922. In February 2009 a memorial plaque was unveiled on the building; the idea belonged to Ukraine's first ambassador to Denmark, Nataliia Zarudnia, who wanted the plaque and the Shevchenko bust a block away to form a single Ukrainian place of memory.
Upsalagade 24, 2100 København Ø. The plaque is on the facade of a residential building and can be viewed from the street. About 200 m on foot from the Shevchenko bust.
