An open-air museum beside the castle, opened in 1970: homesteads of Zakarpattia and the wooden Shelestovo Church of 1777.

Work on creating the museum began in 1965, the first buildings appeared in 1967, and it opened on 27 June 1970. On about two hectares are gathered seven homesteads, six dwellings, a church, a bell tower, a school, a smithy, a mill, a fulling mill and a tavern. The exhibition represents the Ukrainians, Romanians, Hungarians, Hutsuls, Boikos and Lemkos of Zakarpattia. The main structure is the Church of the Archangel Michael of 1777 from the hamlet of Shelestovo: in 1927 it was moved to Mukachevo, and in 1974 re-erected in the museum.
