Veseli Bokovenky Arboretum, Veseli Bokovenky
A steppe arboretum of 1893 laid out by Mykola Davydov; a monument of landscape gardening.
The arboretum was laid out in 1893 by Mykola Davydov in the valley of the Bokovenky river and the Skotuvata gully. The park was designed by the landscape painter Ipolyt Vladyslavsky-Padalka, and the most intensive planting fell in 1895–1904. The park is built as five landscape sections that reproduce different geographical zones, with a system of ponds. The total area of the institution is 536.3 ha, of which the arboretum itself occupies 109 ha. Today it is the Veseli Bokovenky state experimental and breeding dendrological forest centre, and the park has the status of a monument of landscape gardening of national significance.
