A castle-monastery on Chorna Hora: fortifications from the 11th century, a ruin since 1556.

Sources date the first fortification on the hill above Vynohradiv to the 11th century; in the 12th–13th centuries a royal castle stood here. In 1399 King Sigismund granted the lands to Péter Perényi, who built a stone castle, and already in the 15th century the Perényis handed it to the Franciscans — the castle became a monastery where the remains of John of Capistrano were kept. In 1556 a Perényi descendant, having become a Protestant, expelled the monks, and in the same year a royal detachment destroyed the castle by storm; it was never rebuilt. Fragments of the walls and the foundation of the chapel remain.

Ruins on Chorna Hora above Vynohradiv; on 23.08.2026 a walking trail to the “Sea Eye” cave was opened here (Holos Karpat, 22.08.2026). In 2026 the castle was entered in the State Register of Monuments of National Significance (ProZahid, 07.02.2026); nearby, in Korolevo, is Nyalab Castle.
