Sts Borys and Hlib Church, Vyshhorod
Olha's hill: the ramparts of chronicled Vyshhorod and the church of Borys and Hlib.
According to ESU, Borys (in 1015) and Hlib (in 1020) were buried in Vyshhorod in the wooden Church of St Basil; according to the newspaper “Vyshhorod”, in 1030 Yaroslav the Wise built a new church on the site of the one that had burned down. In 1115 the relics were moved to a masonry church consecrated on 1 May with the participation of Volodymyr Monomakh; in 1240 it was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars. The present church was built to a design by Konstantin Thon on the old foundation: according to ESU, in 1861–1863; according to the tourist portal of Kyiv region, it was consecrated on 17 July 1862. The church was closed in 1929, destroyed during the fighting in 1943 and rebuilt in the 1990s. It stands within the Old Rus hillfort on Olha's Hill. According to ESU, the reserve, established in 1994, covers the hillfort with its citadel and fortifications, the foundations of the 11th–12th-century church and Thon's church.
The church is at 11a Petra Kalnyshevskoho Street; the hillfort ramparts are right next to it. On 30.09.2026 russia struck Vyshhorod with missiles and drones: a child was killed and private houses were destroyed (LB.ua, ArmyInform, 30.09.2026).
