A village of Swedish colonists of 1782 on the right bank of the Dnipro.
Swedes from the island of Dago founded Gammalsvenskby here — the "old Swedish village" that kept its language and kirk for over two centuries. German colonists settled alongside, so the village holds churches of several communities. The best-known landmark of our communities-and-colonies theme — and the most fragile: the village survived the 2022 occupation and stands near the front line.
