A monastery on Chernecha Hill above the Latorytsia — from bishops' residence to Basilian seminary.

The founding is traditionally tied to a charter of Prince Fedir Koriatovych of 1360, whose authenticity is disputed; the monastery is documented from the 1430s and received the status of an archimandrite's seat in 1444. From 1491 it was the residence of the Orthodox bishops of Transcarpathia, and in 1661 the first stone rotunda church was built at the expense of the Wallachian voivode Constantin Basarab. From 1664 to 1946 the monastery belonged to the Basilians, and in 1744–1776 a seminary operated here. The present ensemble consists of cells of 1766–1772, the classicist Church of St Nicholas of 1798–1804 and a baroque wall with towers. On 24 March 1947 the Soviet authorities seized the monastery and deported 32 monks to the camps; since then it has been an Orthodox convent.

2 Pronin Street, on the northern edge of Mukachevo. The monastery is active: evening services at 18:00 in summer and 17:00 in winter; keep to the rules of the house.
