Tourist complex of a private winery on the Dniester Estuary: 200-year-old cellars of the colonists of 1822, the House of Sparkling Wines and a qvevri hall; visits by prior booking only.

Shabo began as a settlement whose founding historians date to 1788 (bd-rda.od.gov.ua, 2022). In 1822 French-speaking colonists settled here — bd-rda.od.gov.ua calls them Franco-Swiss, travels.in.ua and maps.visicom.ua French — and developed local winemaking. According to travels.in.ua, the first vine was planted by Swiss scholar and winemaker Louis Tardan; in 1847 Karl Tardan presented eight varieties of Shabo wine at the first agricultural exhibition in Chișinău (travels.in.ua; maps.visicom.ua). The present Wine Culture Centre is the tourist complex of the private SHABO winery on the grounds of a working production site (bd-rda.od.gov.ua): the company website says it has operated since 2009, travels.in.ua since 2004. Visitors are shown the 200-year-old colonists' cellars, including the Sherry Cellar (shabo.ua; travels.in.ua also names the Royal Cellar, the Cognac Yard and the Champagne House), underground storerooms, the House of Sparkling Wines with classic bottle fermentation and the Charmat method (shabo.ua; prichernomorie.com.ua, 26.02.2026), as well as a qvevri hall, an enoteca, an art gallery, a museum and the multimedia Dionysus fountain with a monument to the vine (shabo.ua). The estate's vineyards cover 1,200 ha between the Dniester Estuary and the sea (bd-rda.od.gov.ua; prichernomorie.com.ua; maps.visicom.ua gives about 1,000 ha).

Address: 10 Shveitsarska St, Shabo (shabo.ua; travels.in.ua). By prior booking only (shabo.ua; travels.in.ua, 12.04.2025); tours and tastings are running (prichernomorie.com.ua, 26.02.2026).
